FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

                                                

What is the reservation procedure?  once you have selected a property, we will make the reservation.  We will need name & address, phone and email contacts.  We will also need to know the makeup of your group (#of adults and #of children).  If you are renting a property that allows pets, we will need to know the size and breed of the dog.  If you are bringing a boat, we will need to know the size of the boat.  Once we make the reservation, we will email you a Rental Confirmation and the Guest Agreement.    You are responsible for reviewing and accepting the terms of this Agreement, so please read it over carefully and call us with any questions. Please note that you must be at least 25 years of age to rent a property. A reservation of the property will be held on your behalf for the period reserved.  Your deposit (which is 1/2 the rental amount) and signed agreement are due within 14 days as indicated in the confirmation, the final balance and all fees are due 60 days prior to your arrival. For reservations made within 60 days of arrival, we will inform you of the due date at the time of booking. If we do not receive your deposit and agreement within the time frame indicated, your reservation will be cancelled. Agreements may be returned by mail/email (email hidden; JavaScript is required).

How can I pay for my rental?  We take checks and credit card

I pay by check, where do I send payment?    checks need to be sent within 10 days to Jordan Rentals, 1554 Richville Road, Standish, Maine 04084 – please put the reservation number on the check.

How much is the deposit and when is it due?  When you make a reservation, 1/2 of the rental amount is due within 14 days of reservation.  If your reservation is being made within 60 days of arrival, payment in full is due at the time of the reservation, either by credit card or overnight mail.

CANCELLATION POLICY: 100% refund (Minus booking fee) if you cancel at least 60 days before to check-in. No refunds if you cancel less than 60 days before check-in unless we can rebook your reserved dates. Your booking fee would still be held.  You may want to purchase Travel Insurance in case you have to cancel your reservation.

What is the check in procedure?  Check in is at our Jordan Rentals office at 1554 Richville RD Standish.  Check in time is between 3:00 and 4:00.  When you check in you will be given a rental packet along with the keys and directions to your rental. Some properties have access codes that will be provided the week of your stay.  Those guest don’t need to stop by the office. 

What time do we need to check out?  Check out time is 10:00.  Please adhere to this as we have cleaning teams that are on a tight schedule.

When do we get our Security Deposit returned?  Security deposits are returned in the form of a check, within two weeks of your departure.

What if we damage something at the cottage?  should something be broken or damaged during your stay, call the office immediately so we can contact the owner and/or provide a replacement.   It is the owner’s discretion whether or not the damage will affect your security deposit.  If so, you will be contacted within 30 days of your departure. Replacement or repair costs will be determined, and the amount will be deducted from your security deposit.  The remainder of the deposit will be returned to you in the form of a check.

Are there any other possible deductions against my security deposit?    yes, charges for excessive trash or midweek pick-ups; excessive cleaning of the cottage after your departure; repositioning of moved furniture; unreturned keys or rented linens; unwashed dishes; cleanup of yard and beach of trash and/or pet waste if applicable, and late check out time.  

Are Pets allowed?  Some owners will allow a pet at their property.  Some owners charge an additional pet fee.  All pets must be flea protected, remain under owner control.  Barking dogs are not allowed.  Some breeds of dogs are not allowed at rentals due to insurance restrictions.  Failure to clean up excess hair and pet waste will incur a charge to your security deposit.

Can Pets visit?  If pets are not allowed at a cottage, then no pets can be on the property.  If pets are allowed, a guest can come with one pet as a daily visit.  Unless otherwise approved by the owner, only one pet is allowed on a property at time.

Can I drink the water?  if the cottage has a well, the water is potable and can be consumed, unless otherwise indicated.  If the water source is from the lake, it will be fine for bathing and boiling.  You should plan on purchasing drinking water to use during your stay.

Are Linens Included?  Sheets and towels ARE NOT INCLUDED with the rental unless otherwise stated.  You will need to bring sheets appropriate to the bed sizes indicated on the cottage details as shown on our website, along with bath towels and dish towels, etc.  With ample notice, you can reserve linens through our office at a cost of $15.00 per set, per week. Rented linens are picked up by you at check-in and returned to the office upon departure. Failure to return linens to the office will result in a $50 pick-up charge deducted from your security deposit.

What if the Cottage we rent is for sale, will rentals be honored?  We strive to work with owners that are selling to honor all in place rentals at the time of contract and subsequent sale of the property.  99.9% of the time they do, but there is no guarantee.  If a new owner does not want to honor in place rentals, then we will help you find an alternative property or give you a 100/% refund of monies paid.   If a property is for sale, the owner may require that you allow for showings during your stay with a 24 hour notice.  

What about Cleaning?  Your cottage should be clean upon your arrival.  You will receive an arrival and departure procedure checklist when you check in.  IF IT IS NOT CLEAN, PLEASE CONTACT US AT TIME OF ARRIVAL SO WE CAN REMEDY THE PROBLEM. If there are safety or maintenance issues, we should also be immediately notified.  We are not responsible for the condition or safety of the rented property. We will have any necessary repairs made as soon as possible. You agree to leave the property in good condition: that means broom swept and neat; furniture returned to original location; dishes washed and put away; toys, books, DVDs, and remotes organized and put away; trash bagged and secured in barrels provided; yard cleaned, and any pet waste disposed of properly; patio and beach furniture returned to original location, etc. Windows and doors should be closed and locked upon your departure. Failure to do so may result in charges against your security deposit. If there are any charges you will be notified in writing, within 21 days of your departure.
